I just got back from Miami where I showed some works at Aqua with Galerie d Art Yves Laroche as well as at Scope with Mauger Modern Art for their “There s Still Life” show.

I had the wonderful surprise to come across Shawn Barber s new piece : this portrait of me that he did as a part of his tattooed portraits series. It was being shown at Joshua Liner s booth at Scope.

Galerie d art Yves Laroche has been eager to present Life Size, a two person exhibition featuring the work of American artist Shawn Barber and Paris-native,
Turf One (Jean Labourdette). Supported by each of these artist s individualistic approach to portraiture, Life Size will be taking us through a refined collection of paintings documenting some of today s most interesting personalities.

In association with Art Tattoo Montreal 2009, all are invited to the opening, scheduled for Wednesday, September 2nd 2009 from 6-9 pm at Galerie d art Yves Laroche.
Sounds by Speakerbruiser Rob (Megasoid/ex-Sixtoo).
Both artists will be present.

I will be part of En Masse, starting today at Pangee gallery, in old Montreal :

“EN MASSE” @ Galerie Pangee, co-curated by Tim Barnard and Jason Botkin, is an explosive encounter between the worlds of fine art, comix, and graffiti on a massive scale. This month long event, running from February 1st to March 1st, will climax with a gigantic bang timed exactly to coincide with the citywide round the clock celebrations of Nuit Blanche!

Twelve home-grown Montreal favs, influential artists chosen for their cutting edge graphic styles, have been invited to invade the space of Pangee for an entire month of production, working to cover the walls in a collaborative ecstasy of mark making.

The exhibition will open its doors quietly on the first of the month, with the walls covered every inch in clean white paper from floor to ceiling, eagerly anticipating the coming squall of creation. We invite you to come often, as this massive, once in a lifetime event project expands on a daily basis!
